Installation Day
- What You Need To Do
The most important issue for us, is
'Can we park our van?'
We generally use Fiat Ducato long wheelbase/high roof vans to
deliver pool tables and related items around the country and
although they are not as big as many 'home delivery' vehicles, they
are most certainly bigger than your average family car - the
dimensions are as follows:
Length = 6m
Width (inc mirrors) = 2.1m
Height = 2.53m
Ideally, you'll have off-road
parking where we can park-up, unload and fit your table without
interuption for the average 4 hours that it takes to
professionally install your table. However, we appreciate
that off-road parking is not always available and in such
cases, you need to arrange some form of on-road parking
facility. Some councils allow special permits to allow delivery
vehicles to park for longer periods and it may be worth
investigating to see if your council offers this facility.
Unfortunately parking meters are of no use as our van
takes at least 1-1/2 spaces and will be towed!
If you really have problems,
call us and let us know. Worst case scenario is that we have
to rent a smaller vehicle as a special consideration and we will
be happy to share the cost of this with you. If you don't let
us know that there is a problem, then we do reserve the right to
charge you the full delivery charge as a surcharge and come
away with the table and store it until we find a solution!
Having established that we can
park, we then need to ensure that your location is NOT an
active building site! Our fitters work very hard and have to
handle large, unweildy objects and very heavy slate. They are
not allowed to transport these items on anything other than
'regular' pathways as it is plainly dangerous to do so. The
fitting team are within their right to (politely) refuse to
install your table if they feel that it would be dangerous to do
so, and again we reserve the right to charge for a failed
delivery!
So, we now have the table in your
front porch - are there any stairs (and that includes up and
down!)? Each section of slate can weight up to 120kgs and in
some cases, the fitters will need to physically carry these
sections (along with the rest of the table) to your desired
setting. If we know stairs are involved, we can plan ahead and
provide the equipment needed for the fitting team.
On location! Try to think ahead
of delivery, about where you want the table in the room. The
fitters will assemble the frame and then ask you where you
ideally want it. Now, they might suggest an alternative position
based on their knowledge of siting tables, but at the
end-of-the-day, it is your decision (but remember you can't
pick these tables up and move them - they have to be stripped
down to be moved which WILL cost you money!). We appreciate
any consideration you can give to the fitting team here as we
allocate 10 minutes for this and any minute extra can mean a
great deal in getting home at a reasonable time :-).
So, there you are. A brand spanking
new Brunswick pool table, delivered and installed with no
problems, sited just where you want it - easy really isn't it!
